...and then I traveled back in time

TF is a kind of time travel book, but not in any kind of sci-fi "portally" way. So, it is somewhat ironic that last night, my manuscript traveled backwards. Remember the post about seeing 30 in my rear-view mirror? Well, last night I went through and deleted a lot of unecessary words that you don't think about while you're writing--you just write them, and then you have to go back and remove them. Words such as really, very, some, a little, a lot, and big. I deleted about 275 words and now I'm under 30K again. Heh.

Oh, that we could do that with our ages.

"Hmm...I'm not crazy about that little extra piece of wiggle woggle on the back of my upper arms."

DELETE

"OH, boy...chin sag."

DELETE

"Why, last week, my waist fit into those cute shorts. Now, strangely, they seem to be about two inches too tight."

DELETE

I'm stepping onto the age scale, holding my breath.
Cool...I'm back down to 39 years, eight months.

Oh, well.

Lyric of the Year

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too

Oh, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down

If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down

Landslide, Stevie Nicks
