My New Offices
With only three days to go before I start my new schedule, I've been checking out my options. I want to spend some time working away from the house, and on a regular basis. I called the Arlington Public Library today to find out what their setup is. I knew they had wireless Internet as long as you're a cardholder (although perhaps I would be MORE productive without it), but I wasn't sure what the power situation is. The nice librarian lady told me plugs for laptops are not standard, but if I can find a plug near a cube or table, I can use it. Cool! This is muy importante because my computer battery only lasts about 30 minutes these days...down from about 5 or 6 hours when I first got it. Waah. That's hardly worth getting out for, so some of my previous places to work away from home are out these days until I invest in a new battery. So, I'm guessing one of my first tasks next week will be to scope out the local library branch to see where there are plugs available. They are opening a new branch closer to my house soon, too, and I'll be crossing my fingers that they have convenient and plentiful plugs.
