I'm so excited, I just can't hide it

Well, I haven't done my writing YET today (there's still time) but did I mention my new online writer's group?

I got frustrated looking for a local or online group of folks who wrote somewhere in the general vicinity of things I write (general fiction, women's fiction, relationships, etc.) and finally decided to start my own. I polled the groups from Barbara Samuel's classes that I took earlier this year and her ongoing group, and six diverse, talented ladies responded that they are looking for the same thing. We set our group up a week ago, and it's buzzing! With excitement and activity.

We're committing to keep each other accountable for our writing goals, support each other in those areas where only another writer "gets" what's going on in our heads, critique each other's work, and just be an all-around small support group for each other. (Because, as you know, writers are a little sick in the head and we need that. ;)

I'm so happy I decided to just take the plunge and do this. The administrative stuff is keeping me a little busy getting things set up right now, but at the same time, I've managed to get a lot of writing done this week, so it's already helping me stay accountable. I've figured out that while I work well alone at home, I need to have a group of people like this to keep my writing brain engaged and sane.

I expect great things from all six of these ladies ... and me, too.
