My little obsession

A writer's musician (and if you want to see what I mean, just look here at the notes from his recent release):

And a source, for me, of much inspiration, both personally and in my writing. (That's a lot of commas.) Yes, I'm proud to admit I'm a card-carrying member of the cult of David Wilcox. ;)

See him a couple of times, and he'll get to you. And to your family. My 15-year-old (15!!) daughter's wish for her birthday? A ticket to the upcoming DW concert here in DFW. My son's requested and granted 19th birthday wish last year? A ticket to the DW concert. These are teenagers, people. Listening to a folk singer pushing 50. With their parents.

Besides, how can you resist that laugh?

Heeeyyyy...I hear what you mean. He does have a certain something, doesn't he? I'll have to have Scott give him a listen -- I think he'll love him.

And he's usually in Denver at least once a year, Lisa. One of these days, I'll make a trip to see him in my old hometown.

Wowee wow wow. Just got around to clicking on the link to read the Airstream notes. Ordered the CD immediately. My gosh, this man should write a novel. He is a gifted wordsmith. I want Jay to read the notes (if I can get him to read that much - LOL) before he listens. I've never felt like he quite "gets" DW. Andy does, but he's artsy. Anyway, just wow. Can't wait to listen. AND, I ordered it without listening to any tracks, just based on the notes. What a blast it would be to do what they did - just take off for a couple of years and travel. I would be in heaven. Except for missing my Jilly and Sam that is.

Poor Emilie, we figured out the concert's on a Friday night and she has a game. She was NOT happy. We're trying to figure out an alternative, maybe Swell Season or Jason Mraz.

I hadn't bought the Airstream CD and a month or so ago, it arrived in my mail. Ryan had ordered it for me out of the blue. :) The only song I really wasn't getting was "Little White Lie," and after reading the notes, I was like, "Huh. Okay."

The Reason has rapidly become a mainstay of the soundtrack for my next manuscript.

LOL, last night I was showing the little video to Jay, and telling him about the CD, and he said "I'm not sure if I'm artistic enough to get his music." At least he's self aware . . . I told him that maybe if he reads the notes first, then listens to the music, it will fall into place for him. But, I also said that even if I didn't love the lyrics and their deep meanings, I love his voice and his musical style. That's cool that Ryan sent it to you . . . sweet. So does Em get kicked off the squad if she misses a game?
